Default SFO to Dar Es Salaam Tanzania

Any thoughts on this route? I want to take my registered guest, so that will limit me severely. I'm thinking UA to Dubai, then I can zed on Emirates and buy him a ticket maybe....Also....any thoughts about going the back way, across the Pacific and thru Asia? Looks like it will be about the same difference, mileage-wise.

Anyone been to Tanzania? One of my good friends is taking a teaching position there and Ima visit, most likely after New Yr. Gonna need a good bit of vacation time to travel to the other side of the globe. Until now, I've had no real interest to visit Africa except maybe to do a safari to see the wildlife.

Sounds like a great idea, but am no help w/routing. Do you have a RTW route option ? You can try tripadvisor air travel forums for info, aside from nonrev. There is only one airline employee (UA--he has vast experience nonreving and is based in BKK--you can PM hm--GOPBI) I have Ngorongoro Crater on my list. You could do long side trip to Vic Falls. Africa is quite amazing, as long a you avoid the tribal nations.

So, after doing a ton of research, looks like we will be going to Zurich, overnighting there and then on to Nairobi via Swiss. Then on to Killmanjaro Intl via either Precision Air or Kenya. We'll have to buy a ticket for my enrolled friend for the last leg though.

Highly looking forward to this one!

I know a couple of guys that climbed Kilimanjaro. One guy practiced for a month or two walking a lot. I guess it paid off for him. He's skinny as a twig. Just do it. How many people can say that?

Yeah, not doing the climb at allllll. No way Jose lol. We are going mostly to visit with my friend, and get in a safari as well. That's my only interest in even going to Africa, and having a friend there just makes it better.
