Thread: Please recommend a beach resort in Asia for an adult family

My last trip to Thailand included a few days in Koh Samui. (Partially inspired by the movie Meet the Parents). I believe it was about a 1 hour flight from BKK. BKK is a fun city to explore as well.

I have a family member currently based in the middle east and we are looking to meet him somewhere in Asia- in August for a week beach vacation. The idea is that we minimize his travel time. Non revving aside, I would probably buy tickets for this one, I know basically ZERO about where to go. I thought about Club Med, but their emphasis is now on young families and my kids are young adults. The middle east is out, my family member wants to be able to have a beer at will, and prefers something different, so no Dubai, Abu Dhabi etc. I'd like a relaxing beach, good food, minimal water/ sickness problems and the ability to go off resort and see stuff. I know this is short notice, but that's a crew thing right?

So far I have looked at Phuket and Bali, but I would really value any recommendations from Airliners!
