Default AS Secures Routes from PAE...Are they pulling out of SEA?

Alaska Airlines has announced details of its new services at Seattle-area airport Paine Field-Snohomish County.
The Seattle-based airline will operate 13 daily flights to eight cities when the airfield’s new passenger terminal is completed later this year.
Alaska Air will offer services to five California destinations: Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, San Francisco and San Jose, plus Las Vegas, Phoenix and Portland. Flight schedules and launch dates will be announced later in the year.
“We're proud to become the anchor tenant of the new terminal at Paine Field. With so many new possibilities for business and leisure travel, we believe this will bring increased opportunities to our communities,” Alaska’s chief commercial officer Andrew Harrison said.
Paine Field is the site of Boeing’s main commercial aircraft manufacturing plant. The new terminal is a public/private partnership between Snohomish County and Propeller Airports.
United announced in August last year that it would launch commercial service from Paine Field, with a total of six daily flights to Denver and San Francisco.

Not even close to pulling out of SEA. Seatac is really congested and this has been in the works for several years as a way to relieve some of that congestion.

    Lightbulb Plan B

This is good news. What SJC is to SFO – PAE will be to SEA, a great option to have in your back pocket.

    Update....SWA to PAE..

A year ago, no airline offered regular commercial passenger flights from Paine Field in Everett, Wash. By the end of the year, there will be three.
Southwest Airlines became the third carrier to announce its intention to fly from the airport, further solidifying momentum for establishing Paine Field as a “secondary” airport for the Seattle metro area.
Alaska Airlines and United Airlines have already announced their own plans to fly from Everett, where a new two-gate passenger terminal is now under construction to handle the service.

Though Paine Field is home to Boeing’s adjacent widebody assembly line and to some general aviation flights, it has been decades since the airport last had regular commercial passenger service.
Southwest revealed its plans for Everett in an interview with The Seattle Times, telling the paper it will begin a schedule of five daily round-trip flights on Boeing 737s once the new terminal opens this fall. Southwest said it would reveal its destinations from Everett later this year. (Full report: The Seattle Times)
“We’ve wanted to grow in the Seattle metro market for quite some time. But Sea-Tac airport is constrained,” Southwest CEO Gary Kelly said to the Times. “Paine Field will be a wonderful alternative for our customers.”

Constrained....Hummmmm. Is that code for AS and DL "Run the City"?
