Default Trying to get dog over to US

    Hi,
I am trying to find a way to get my husband's dog over here to the US and trying to find out if any zed airlines will give a discount for a pet in Cargo. Anyone have any ideas or have done it before? Dog is in Australia . We have access to a ton of airlines for ZED and Delta benefits. Any suggestions would really help
    Thanks

Unfortunately not a part of the ZED agreements.

Most staff however do get rebated cargo on their own carrier if you knew someone who works at a local carrier. Generally this is at ID90 rates, but animals are charged more as they will travel confirmed instead of standby, usually at ID50 rate.

DL charges $550 for INT rev or nonrev pets in cargo one way.
Hope he really loves that dog!!
Good luck--maybe someone else has better idea$.

Aside from the cost, remember the myriad of permits needed each side (import permit, export permit, vaccinations, health certs, quarantine)... make sure you do your research as most airlines deal with freight forwarders who have already taken care of these things.

Worth getting a quote from some agents (in Australia give Jetpets or Dogtainers) a try - if they are more then try the DL option out of SYD. You can also engage them just to take care of your paperwork

How big is the dog? UA doesn't charge for pets in the cabin for nonrevs, and I'm assuming that includes OAL. International, however, I'm not sure about...

No go on that one Spongebue:

    "Travel to/from Australia
Pets are not permitted to travel in the cabin or as checked baggage on flights to/from Australia (exceptions may be made for service dogs such as seeing-eye or guide dogs). Pets may only travel to/from Australia as manifested cargo. Passengers should visit Bringing Cats and Dogs (and other pets) to Australia - DAFF and www.unitedcargo.com to learn more"

Hmmm, I suppose that it would be a lose/lose situation for both cargo and in-cabin. In cargo, a 13 hour flight like SYD-SFO is not gonna be good for the animal, not to mention the options to keep food and water in there, and in the cabin that food and water has to go somewhere. Never considered the length of flight. Maaaaaybe it'd be slightly better if you could break it up, going through NRT or something with a couple days in between, but that's a lot of work
