More than a thousand flights have been cancelled at New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia airports due to a major winter storm that hit the region overnight and is expected to get worse through Today. As of 7 a.m., Newark Liberty International Airport hadthe highest number of cancellations for incoming and outgoing flights with 540, according to the airport's Twitter account.

There were hundreds of additional cancellations and delays at other area airports, according to the flight tracking website flightaware.com:

  • 447 flights at John F. Kennedy International Airport
  • 437 at LaGuardia Airport and
  • 181 at Philadelphia International Airport

Trenton-Mercer Airport and Atlantic City International Airport do not show any cancellations so far.
