Default First picture of the new A319

Posted from airliners.net User Photo. Can't say that I'm a huge fan. The windows where the 'American' logo is look like bullet holes.

You know, I'm generally not much of a livery aficionado, but I think you're right about that. Just looks like something a budget airline would have.

Edit: Anyone have any idea what's up with the tail number? It doesn't have the N-number that every US-registered plane is supposed to have. Must have been purchased from another airline and hasn't been re-registered. I know Sun Country in MSP has some planes shared with Transavia, since they have opposite busy seasons, so I've worked their charters with a foreign tail number. But I wouldn't expect AA to have something like that. And that picture looks like the tail number is photoshopped...

Since AA hasn't formally taken delivery yet, Airbus uses a European registration, in this case with the German 'D' prefix and flag. It will change to an N registration after delivery. I remember seeing a pre-delivery BA A380 having an F prefix and French flag. I believe Boeing does the same before they deliver aircraft bound for foreign carriers.

The plane was built in Germany. Upon delivery the registration is changed.

    Edited to add--

I suppose this means we’ll be keeping the new livery post merger - disappointing.

Starting 9/16/13, the following routes will mix in a A319 to the route:
    DFW-CLT
    DFW-CLE
    DFW-MEM
    DFW-ICT

Does anybody have a picture of a AA Babybus? That will be interesting to see..

THANK YOU. Was waiting on this...

That is one cheesy-@ss livery. Where'd they get it done, Earl Scheib? I've seen custom bikes look better! Wow--the "bullet holes" look awful--that comment is hysterical!

Unfortunately, or something else Doug Parker and friends decide. They need to preserve/bring back the classic AA.

I think part of the reason they're moving along from the aluminum look is because the 787 is carbonfiber, so you can't get that with that plane.

The paint I understand, it’s losing the AA signature logo that I don’t agree with.
To replace the cross-winged eagle and the prominent AA with this-
“stylized“ peak of an eagle going through what, a stripe?????
Not to mention the tail design, if the design is suppose to be a “stylized” US flag- aren’t their stars on the flag? A stylized red, white and blue tail could just as well be BA.
