I am planning a new trip from Norway down to Australia – to visit my girlfriend who is down there. Anyone ever tried to non-rev with Virgin Atlantic? Is listing necessary? If yes, where do I list?
My airline is not allowed to by business ZED fares with VS. Anyone know if VS usually do upgrades? Maybe is it possible to by the upgrade at the airport?

And last. VS flights from London to Sydney make a stop in Hong Kong. Anyone knows if VS (assume there are available seats all the way) will give me a seat all the way to SYD. Or will they always put me on stand by for the second leg.

In the past I have tried QF, BA, OS, TG, UA, and SK on my trips to Australia. It is just time to try something new…

    Best regards,
    Vegar

I believe VS can always get staff on the HKG-SYD segment, but the LHR-HKG segment is always nigh impossible. There is a huge demand for LHR-HKG-LHR so that demand often blocks any through traffic wanting LHR-SYD.
I would suggest getting to HKG on maybe LH or SK or OS etc etc and then down from there.
The alternate is a ZED on CX and QF - between them they run 5-6 daily HKG-SYD.

Is it then possible to make money on the HKG – SYD leg? Ref Austrian closing down all their services between Vienna and Australia in mars.

As you suggest my plan is LH from MUC to HKG, and then VS, QF or CX to SYD. The only problem is that I of course prefer business. I can buy C from MUC to HKG, but not down to SYD. Actually the only way I can fly C all the way to Australia is with OS (which they soon are closing down). But their flight doesn’t look very on Friday. LH from MUC to HKG on Thursday afternoon looks much better

Shame on TG who dos not offer SK (Star alliance) staff C class on their flights. And double shame on SQ who doesn’t offer ID tickets to partner airlines at all

    Thanks for your answer All!

    Vegar,
Since you work for SK, why don't you fly C class on UA?
FRA/SFO/SYD ... although you'll need to try in January ... no chance from now until then.
