    Default Nonrev Correspondent- Singapore

Hi all, apologies for the late introduction - I just moved from my hometown of Melbourne, Australia to Singapore so have been quite busy settling in at home and work!

    A little about me:

    • I've had a passion for the aviation industry since a child, and have been involved in it for the last 7 years.
    • I studied Aviation Management at University in Melbourne, and had the time of my life as a Dispatch Intern at Southwest. I try to get back to visit at least once a year
    • After returning from Dallas to complete my studies I went back to working in an airline lounge (don't ever do this... it's depressing) before I found a job as a cargo officer at CX.
    • 2.5 years later and i've been promoted and am now stationed in SIN

I love to travel, and probably used my benefits more than anyone I knew in MEL. During my 2 years I made the most of my 5 weeks/yr vacation (do I hear jealousy from my US counterparts??) visited Hong Kong countless times, as well as Egypt, UK (multiple), USA (multiple), Bahrain, Netherlands, Finland, Taiwan, Singapore.

Now my vacation plans can't be as flexible as they were in the past, so I have to plan weekend trips and 1 or 2 longer trips a year. I'm hoping to go to PVG, KUL, TPE, PEN, HKG, CMB and HAN over various weekends before the end of the year, and maybe a trip to DAL and LAS via the UK later this year! Probably won't hit that target, but will see how we go.

I look forward to sharing my interest in travel and aviation with everyone on the boards... any qns about SIN, CX or the region let me know!

Did I read that right? 5 weeks/yr vacation? I'm SOOOO jealous! How much vacation time do you have now? Your travels sound wonderful. I'll be looking forward to hearing about your trips!

    Hi Nick,
Does CX has embargoed for non rev during july? If it doesn't , how much chance of flying from SFO or LAX to BKk ?
    Thank you.

Hi there, our only embargoes apply to positive space ("nosub") tickets, so you will be fine with a ZED. As for July what date were you thinking... I can check but obviously the plane will fill up. From what I have seen lately YVR seems to be the most open port as opposed to SFO/LAX/JFK. Where are you based?

I am based in SFO and looking at the second week of July - first week of August.
Thank you for your reply and anytime you want to fly AA, I can help you check the load.

So you are leaving second week of July, coming back in August? Or you can leave anytime? That's a big range of dates is all...

Hi Nick...I'm hoping to do a qui trip to Malaysia in a few weeks, and wanted some advice. Right now, the plan is to do SFO-HKG-KUL on 6/22ish, and KUL-HKG on 29th, and HKG-SFO on the 30th or the 1st. Are the flights better out of SF, or Vancouver, and how are the loads tentatively right now?
And anytime you're on the West Coast, I'm your girl!

Horizon SEA hey... i've flown on y'all once, SEA-YVR was quite enjoyable. Crew were young and friendly, agent on phone and at apt were quite nice.

Can you postpone to depart around 25th/26th? Loads are bad before then but improve out of YVR around this time.
    SFO-HKG = bad (20-25th)
    LAX-HKG = bad (20-25th)
Basically economy is oversold, biz and first look good on face value but all the oversells will slot in there somewhere. I can check closer to time for a better picture if you'd like.
YVR-HKG = OK on 22nd, Bad on 23rd, CX839/24Jun is excellent, 25th both flights look excellent

    HKG-KUL = CX721/22Jun, CX623/23Jun, CX721/24Jun, CX725/25th Jun, CX721/26Jun all look good.

Do you have an agreement with Malaysian (MH) or Sri Lankan (UL)? OAG shows they both fly direct LAXKUL!!!
