Default Proof of onward travel for BKK

    Hi!

Just curious if anyone has had any issues with airlines requiring proof of onward travel when nonreving to BKK using the 30 day visa waiver program? I have read that some airlines do require proof of onward travel to board the flight, but does this also apply to standby nonrev travel? I know mainland china you have to have a confirmed ticket out, but I haven't heard the same about BKK. I'm a US citizen looking to take either EK or KL next week and just to cover my bases before heading out.

    Thanks!

    Greg

You do not need anything. I, also a US citizen, have been through BKK a couple of times and have never been asked about onward travel. I have non-rev in/out of BKK,also overland to BKK and buying a confirmed seat out. I have never heard/read anything about this for Thailand.

Use the term "staff travel" overseas. It's more widely recognized in English than nonrev travel...

Welcome aboard Boeing Guy, if you haven’t already, take a look at T3Lee’s BKK trip report, interesting and helpful.

BTW, the Nonrev Lounge is straight back, always someone at the bar.

Thanks for all the info. I've caught on to using the staff travel lingo over the years. Has made things a lot easier.

I read that trip report lastnight! Very well done and tons of helpful info.

thanks for the welcome, glad to be here!
