Star Flyer, a Japanese domestic airline, plans to offer a monthly subscription for some domestic flights, which will include rented accommodation.
The move appears to be an attempt to cash in on the rise of remote and hybrid working.
Per Bloomberg, the subscription model, which costs between 200,000 yen and 400,000 yen, or $1,340 to $2,680 per month, will offer flights between Fukuoka, a city in the south of Japan, and the capital, Tokyo.
Included in the offer is rented accommodation in and around Fukuoka, where living costs are much lower than in Tokyo. This would allow hybrid workers to move out of the capital while still being able to commute back as many times as they want.

"Compared with tourism, demand for business travel is still weak, which is one of the reasons we consider relocation as a way to cultivate new demand," Star Flyer spokesperson, Yuki Furuse, told Bloomberg.
Representatives for Star Flyer did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment made outside normal working hours.
The COVID-19 pandemic has driven Tokyo office vacancy rates to an eight-year high, according to data from office broker Miki Shoji, and has also accelerated the rise of remote working around the country.
