    Default 747 aircraft question

I am a Delta employee and my adult daughter never got the chance to fly on a 747 before we retired them. BA has more 747 still in service than anyone else. Can anyone recommend a way for her to try the 747 first class cabin inexpensively? I want her to have that experience before all of them get retired, but the fares I've been finding ou
Are $6000 and higher for a one way ticket.

Not the same as actually flying but checking out the 747 at the DL museum in ATL might be something you may want to consider.

Since you're with DL (SkyTeam) also look at KLM and LH. But as you know getting an upgrade to F has some long odds. your daughter might have to settle for seeing F as she passes..... through *wink* Good Luck

I did a quick check on a few of the BA 747s and see the ones I checked are all on long haul routes. So your $6000 plus fare will be about right.

If she is eligible for any airline discounts based on your employment, you may want to check if DL have any ID agreements that give discounts on OAL first class fares. I would doubt it, but there may be an old ID75 or ID50 agreement that covers first class and is still available. I see you already asked about buddy passes, and although I have no idea about their pass policy, even if you could get one for her, the chance of an upgrade is probably close to zero.

Depending on your location and her holiday plans, you may want to look at one or two of the far east airlines. For instance China Airlines from TPE to HAN is around $580 (OW) in business class, and I think they have some of their biz class upstairs. Korean from ICN to MNL is around $948 (OW) in first class. There will be several others, but absent any positive info on this site, you will need to spend a considerable number of hours exploring what and where.

    Good luck. Lee

Have you thought about using redemption tickets ... BA fly DXB-LHR one way for about 60K Avios plus $250 taxes. Since in the US you seem to be able to get a zillion Avios points joining bonus when you take out a credit card and spend on it quickly. Might be worth looking at and a fair bit cheaper.
