Saw some pretty interesting snow games this Sunday, starting with that huge snow squawl in Philly. Did you see that stuff coming down? They were all disoriented for a little while until a guy by the name of McCoy found his way right through Detroit's defense system. Hell of a runner. Baltimore didn't fair much better weatherwise a few clicks to the south and west, they were all snowed up all through the first half, coming down hard in their game with Minnesota. Seems like the snow plows were moved in and out of the field to clear away the snow, especially during half time when the heaviest of the snow was over with. And not to mention the 5 TD's in a two minute run. Baltimore pulled that one off. I loved the way Pittsburgh almost won the game in the last minute by laddering the ball around in their game with MIAMI. It almost looked like a vintage rugby match, but the dude stepped out of bounce. Miami took that game too played in the snow. Then the Redskins against Kansas City in a snow squawl in Landover Field, Maryland. The Redskins got clobbered, but that was SNOW surprise to me since their year is tainted in all kinds of turmoil from coaching, to ownership to the players, and especially their special teams. But it was interesting watching a field goal with the snow blowing sideways in the heavy snowfall in the first quarter, then it turned into icy rain and just the nasty stuff to add insult to injury in an all ready descimated Redskins team.
Good old fashioned games, the way games should be played. Outdoors despite the nasty elements. It gives a different perspective instead of watching "Dome" teams play in enclosed stadiums where wind, rain, snow, sleet, cold don't come into play. In the elements, both teams are more or less on even keel. They have to adjust to overcome the elements. McCoy of Philadelphia changed over to inch and a half long cleets to gain better traction in the snow. There you go. NFL football weather the way men play football and the fans are truly fans to stick it out in those temperatures. Wow, there is some light in the NFL in times where concussions are the main topic and hitting too high or helmet to helmet rules are making this game into "Flag football" eventually one of these days.
