Default gardening and travel sometimes don't mix

I just nonrevved across the pond to LHR and back twice in the last six days. All went well, except my daughter got a bad case of tonsillitis while staying with relatives in Rustington.

Had a bit of a delay going through security in Heathrow on the way back: The day before I left for England, I fertilized my roses. Somehow a trace of fertilizer (a tiny tiny trace) ended up contaminating my luggage, and triggered the the little wand thingy. It caused a 45 minute delay as they sorted things out with me. Luckily we were there in plenty of time and it didn't cause us to miss our flight back to MSP.

Just a heads-up--if you do any gardening before you travel, go straight to the shower, and wash your clothes. Do not touch your suitcase, or anything you plan to pack inside of it.

Wow I did not know this could happen, but then again I am not a green thumb.

Yeah... kind of similar story, the TSA at my airport has to manually search every bag, since we're too small to have an xray machine. Their screening room is also right next to our garage where we load the bags onto the cart before putting them on the plane. Anyway, I was waiting for an agent to screen one of the bags, and that same explosives detector gave a red flag on a set of golf clubs. We figured it was probably just from fertilizer (but he still checked it out completely, of course).

On the bright side you did get to keep your luggage. I visited England in 02, lost my boots to the mad cow outbreak - actually it was the disinfectant mats, sprays and shoe baths that did them in.

Sorry, should have clarified... that was someone else's bag while I was working. I haven't played a game of golf in my life :P

The flights went well...I/we had front row seats on all the flights across the pond It's a pretty amazing thing that DL does for its employees in that regard. Nothing beats it.

We were able to fly nonstop from MSP when I brought her there; however, I had to travel through JFK on the way home. Then I had to go through JFK again on my way back there to pick her up, but we were able to get on the MSP flight coming home. The flights were pretty full, but we managed (through judicious use of our S2's), to make it work. Also, I think there were some no-shows last saturday due to some mainline tube stations being closed for the weekend for major repairs.

Nothing like flying to LHR and turning around in 5 hours to fly home....yawn
