Default Any Regional Elite or Delta Global Services (DGS) people on this board?

For those that haven't heard, Delta is shutting down another wholly owned subsidiary this year (Comair being the first), Regional Elite Airline Services.

I work at MSP for REAS and sounds like Menzies, Swissport, DGS and Skywest are the possible bidders for our station's RFP. Most of the outstations are being transitioned to DGS.

Any current/former REAS or DGS employees on this board? Just wondering how REAS people are doing and what to expect if DGS takes over MSP.

Welcome to the world of REAS, where everything is nothin. I am down in MIA and have also been given the great news that REAS will cease to exist. We have been told that the local vendors are after the contract along with DGS. In MIA no new vendors/contracters are allowed to bid on RFPs. You must be an active vendor/contracter to be allowed to pick up work at MIA. SO we dont even know if DGS will be allowed in as a subsidiary. We hope so, at least for benis but dont look forward to our wages bing taken down to start pay, which is what we heard DGS has been doing. I hope all goes well. Has DGS spoken to you folks yet?

Skywest, DGS, Swissport and Menzies are the companies participating in the MSP RFP. All I have heard from DGS is that if they take over, they will offer all REAS employees jobs.

I thought DGS had already taken MSP and DTW. Are they even calling it a transition? What about bonus from REAS for staying on and Bonus from DGS after 90 days. I only ask beacuse we have heard and read that DGS and REAS where offering them both. Also what about your senority, I was told DGS would grandfarther you D.O.H....Looks like their not telling you to much....

So why are the other vendors in on the RFP if DGS already took over?

    Smile REAS No more

DGS transition should be grandfathered seniority and pay, anything other than that is NOT a trans.

SERVISAIR, EVERGREEN, my- E Culo America, SWISS-Cheese Port A- potty, Menzies CAN just LMB!
These cheap outsourcing companies screw up and damage planes. They will hire you if you can walk and nod a yes or no.

I am not sure about DTW, but at MSP we will find out on September 10th (or sometime early next month) who won the RFP.

I heard this from a REAS employee in LAN.

start is 7.75/hr. Top out at 8.60ish. No vacation, no sick time. So a 30% pay cut for most, on top of the outrageous price to get insurance if you are full time.

And I saw this on airliners.net.

The details vary by station. Our station starts at 7.75 and top out at 9.60. This is good and bad, myself currently gets 9.25 and would get 9.60 with DGS but then screwed for the rest of time..

As stated above, No zed, no buddy passes, no email, no Interline. Priority codes and seniority stay the same.

Family medical is 256 per week. you are paid weekly.
no holiday pay - you get time and half if you work that day
there are no coords - only sups - equivelant to perf. sup. DGS likes the REAS training program and may adopt it. otherwise there aren't trainers its the sups job. Everyone in Building C on the REAS side is out of a job unless they move to ATL. Still unclear on regional managers

Based on peformance at the end of the year, you can get a bonus of 2% of your salary or choose time off for up to 40 hours max, compared to the 12 hours we currently get with RE now

LSE, MQT, AZO, EYW and one other are going to American Eagle and TRI to Piedmont

    Steel toe shoes are required

If you stay thru your transition date you get up to $600 depending how long you have been there, and and addition 600 if you stay 90 days past transition.

Handbook for DGS is about 20 pages compared to RE 150 pages

Each manager will be responsible for profit and loss and held accountable like in Mesaba days.
Rumors are that we keep our seniority (however, possibly not in terms of pay), that DGS may have pulled out of the RFP and that mainline might take over. Hoping that mainline absorbs us, or that skywest wins the bid. If Menzies or Swissport win, I'd wager that 80%+ of our current staff would quit by the transition date, since they are all part time flex and only work there for the flight benefits.

Originally thought that DGS wants to get workers that are only working for flight benefits. However, one of our supervisors used to work with DGS, he said that they got rid of all their part time positions for the cleaners and told them it was full time or nothing. So, now they pay close to minimum wage and most of the workers are unskilled, non-english speaking immigrants.

For some tasks, like cabin cleaning, I can understand minimum wage. It is an easy job and requires hardly any training. However, for working on the ramp (parking, unloading, loading and pushback), you would think they would pay more to get and keep people who are competent that will get the flights out on time and won't damage the aircraft.

My other thought is that DGS wants a revolving door work place. It isn't a career. It is a job you get until you can find something better, which wouldn't take too long considering how bad the pay is. While $9/hour is above minimum wage, it is well below a living wage for MSP.
