Default Buddy Pass from SYD to LAX - Odds of getting on?

    Hello,

Wondering if anyone has any insight on this itinerary for November 1st? I know it's way in advance right now (and really, it's hard to say until a few minutes before departure), but just wondering if anyone knows from experience or from being an employee that odds of a non-rev passenger to get on that flight. Also, about how much would the flight cost?

Plans of vacationing in parts of Asia, but have a few extra days off from work, so wanted to see if I could squeeze in some time in Australia. I've always wanted to go.

Thanks for any information you can provide!

I can guess $350-400 OW with fuel surcharges. You can ask your employee to start a dummy listing to get current price. It might be tough but no way to give you odds. Certainly early. Are you going alone?
Past info: yesterday 2 buddies got on, 4 seats left
today--2 HK's got coach--must have upgraded revs to accommodate HKs
    Oct 31/Nov1/Nov2 150/75/100 6 wks to go
Buddy pass booked OW will not allow you to use the other half later BTW (if you're using it as second leg of Asia trip, that's ok) Good luck and check back.

I've done the US-SYD and back shuffle a few times, with either QF or UA. Seems the problem is always getting from the US to Australia. I've never had an issue with getting back.

Thanks for all of the helpful information and quick response! I will be going alone most likely (never have traveled solo before, so a little nervous). Do you think it's a bad idea to ask one other friend to tag along? Is it really difficult to get 2 people on with the buddy pass?

"Oct 31/Nov1/Nov2 150/75/100 6 wks to go" <-- please excuse me if this is a silly question, but do the corresponding numbers mean how many passengers have a paid seat?

Thanks for your response, too, Tony!

Sorry, but my reply must not have posted--sometimes I hit enter (blonde moment)
15/75/100 means open seats--that's all any of us care about, right? haha
    numbers are now 140/70/90 BTW
