Default New to Non Rev, JFK-NRT Dec 17

    Hi All,

does anyone know if its a good plan to try and fly JFK to NRT on dec 17? i know its a flight optimized route but as of today the plane looks like it has a ton of open seats (business is nearly empty as well). Any advice would is greatly appreciated, as I am new to Non Rev travel.

    thank you,

we did it in reverse, due to loads to other west coast/midwest cities. It's a long one, but if you're emp, and can get bix elite--sweet! This was about a month ago.

Look at DTW as a backup plus you will break an 1 1/2 on your body..

We did LAX/NRT. Stayed over at LAX at La Hacienda ($62) That's the 777 with flatbeds, herringbone. To JFK it was 747 flat compartments and couldn't get upper deck--PSUPs get those first! DTW has been full most days for months since they dropped the nonstop to HKG.

I love going to Ralph's for some bubbly and snacks. Have to say the eggs benedict at the hotel diner were SUPERB!

Not totally on subject, but we have always had great luck non-revving out of JFK to France with Delta over the years. The folks there are great!

Looks like DTW is going to be your best option, MSP isnt horrible either. Also could do the transcon to LAX and take the 330 to HND, but in my opinion those seats don't hold light to what you will exp if u score BIZ ELITE on the 777/747

    thanks everyone!

we are actually doing jfk-bkk, so the jfk to nrt is only the first leg of the trip. it looks like there are still almost 100 open seats on the JFK-NRT flight. Will the payload optimization take affect with so many open seats? I know there are a lot of factors involved in determining a payload optimized flight but is it typical for a non rev to be denied with so many open seats?

Probably not denied but I have seen some flight where all nonrevs are put in coach when there are plenty of seats in biz. Have you looked at the current/recent flights for history? If not, start monitoring them. It will make you crazy, but at least you'll have some info to anticipate loads/logistics.
PS--technically, there are not 100 seats open. The 90# will likely include unassigned pax (they show as HK's sometimes or checkin 24 hrs prior)
I'd say that flight looks good for nonrev due to short list (for now) and likely biz elite for all. Are you the 6/1/10 DOH? I wouldn't worry [yet]
