Default DL or Airtran from atl to mco

Family is heading to Orlando this fall, October, and was wondering if it is possible to zed on either airline around that time of the year; looks like delta has one flight every hour until around 11pm and AirTran one every couple hours. United can be a bit of a pita to get into and out of Orlando. Thanks.

How many people? Are you willing to split (flights, not the kids!)? Weekday or weekend? What about Daytona (short drive)? It's less than 1 1/2 hrs.

If we have to we could split up but rather not. My niece will be traveling with us , 12 years old, so we will have to buy her a ticket and either my wife or I also. We are taking a cruise, how hard is it to fly in and out of Melbourne?

How old is the other child? Party of 5? I think I'd be buying tickets for all but one parent/lap child and plan to split one adult w/2 minors. These are short flights. I went to FIT at Melbourne but haven't flown there in almost 40 yrs! Sorry, can't help with that.
Are you talking about weekends? Is there a school holiday period involved?

You'll have a tough time MCO/ATL on any given Sunday unless you start w/early AM. So many families gong home after Disney. You'll have a lot of active employees on list. Pray for good weather. At least you have lots of airport options within 2 hr drive.
