    Default Virgin Atlantic

Has anyone tried to book a Virgin Atlantic flight since the news about us paying the same as their employees? It said you still have to list through the myid site. I'm going to be going from SIN-SYD in a couple of weeks and was going on QF with a ZED but it would be nice to save $100 and fly on VS instead. When I try to pull up the flights, it won't let me list and as I see it, it says it's embargoed. Does anyone have any info on what flights/dates might be embargoed?

The VS flight you are seeing is probably a codeshare as VS does not fly to SIN. They used to fly HKG-SYD but discontinued that route earlier this year.

That would be Virgin Australia (VA) not Atlantic anyway.

Thought that might be the case but they don't fly to SIN either.

Then it's a codeshare with another airline.

Codeshares are a frustrating shortcoming of the myidtravel website and should be blocked.

But you still have to go thru that airline for any ticket, yes? Once you look at the flight #s, you should know. A site like Matrix - ITA Software will tell you who the carrier is-, our employee travel site shows whose metal is flying. You choose that airline to check on options.

Ah, thank you. I was trying to use the Virgin Atlantic site on Internet Explorer (that's all we have at work) and using the destination map I saw that route but the site doesn't work very well in IE. I pulled it up in myIDtravel and since it listed the flights when I clicked on Virgin Atlantic, I thought they existed. I didn't realize they listed codeshares. To me that's odd since there's no way to list on the flights, why list it anyway? Oh well. I thought it was odd that Virgin Atlantic would be flying there but man would it have been awesome to save $100.

So is it just me, or are DL employees / retiress still not able to check loads on Virgin flight and book trips using DLNet?

No, you are not alone. I don't think that would make sense since we only have 49% ownership. You still have to buy zeds but at the same price their employees do. I guess you can think of it as lower $ version of zeds w/partners, just better possibilities for listing?
