Default No International Taxes under 24 connection?

I read somewhere that if making an international-to-international connection within 24 hours of landing, no taxes need to be paid for a nonrev flight. Is this true and how would Delta know to not charge them?

Also, does Delta no longer have a ZED agreement with British Airways? I don't see them on the list of carriers.

    Thanks!

Answer to half your post: no zed with BA for a few years. They divested themselves from any agreement. can't tell you about that tax question. What connections are you referencing?

If you travel on your carrier on connection yes if it is the reverse no.
    Ex:
You work for AA take a AF flight tkt from CDG to LHR to catch a AA flight arrive in the evening, overnight and take a morning AA flight . As long as you show the AF boarding which prove that you stayed less than 24h the agent can override the tax.
You fly on AA from the Usa to LHR to catch a BA flight to CDG even if you spend few hours you will have to pay the tax because the ticket have been previously issued by a third party and the BA agent have no control on that.

I guess it was a reference to the tremendous British airport taxes...

    Thanks for the replies!

Too bad about no BA ZEDs.

I was thinking a connection from KLM VIE-AMS to Delta AMS-MSP.
