Default HK's on Airport stby list

On the day of travel, looking at all these HK's show up on the Airport Stby List. The availability list is
    0/1(50) main cabin.
But on the top of the Airport Stby List it shows 1-F/C 9-main cabin. The HK's are pax who did not get a seat assignment when they purchased their ticket.
If there are only say 7 HK's showing, can that mean there would still be seats open? Even though the availability list is
    0/1(50) main cabin.

I normally go off the availability list, then within a few hours of the flight go off the airport standby list. Your example would mean that seats would be available but that all depends on how early you are checking. The closer it is to flight time the more accurate the airport standby list would be.

Please keep us posted. The HKs that are result of E class fare buckets are maddening. They should be already in the count.Other HKs are typically real rescheduled pax. I always have the heebie jeebies with those 50 seaters in DTW. Achilles Heel...

It was 7 HK's showing, but the availability showed 1 & 9, it went out full. 1 nonrev got on. So that left 2 seats. What happen to them that I'm not seeing? And yes, it was a 50 seater.

Boy, I had a good one recently. I was waiting for a flight that had something like 0 up front -2 in back with 7 hk's. I figured no way to make this but I showed up just in case. As I was waiting I noticed that the number of HK's dropped to 3. When I noticed I had a seat assigned the numbers on the availability list was -4 up front and -5 in back. Absolutely made no since because I had a seat assigned. Aircraft left with a few open seats.
I do not think I have ever seen HK numbers drop.

Wife and kids barely made it to CHS yesterday...HKs out the wazzoo and all last minute.

I have heard rumors that DL is using a 3rd party as a clearing house for last minute seats.

Maybe some more highly publicized involuntary removals will get them to leave more of a cushion because we all know that there will always be double-bookers

    I'm new here btw..hi y'all.

Welcome aboard SteveZ, I see you jumped right in. There's a seat for you right down front on the aisle. Interesting name (SteveZissou) and signature line you have, which leads me to ask, did you eve find that jaguar shark?
