    Default Greece is the Word?

Logistical issues w/flying into Malta (timing), so rather than complicate further, we're contemplating JFK/ATH. S3B and S4 (this buddy is the LUCKIEST I KNOW! DL One every time.)

So we're planning to spend a few days in Athens and one island. Any recommendations? We want some chill time/sun, good local food/bev, some spa and walking (back has not fully recovered from surgery). Naxos and Paros were ideas, along w/Santorini and Crete. I know nothing about them. I have a LuxLink pal who knows Greek isles pretty well, so she's advising a bit.
Has anyone been to Kos? Any info to share would be so helpful!

If anyone has ideas to get to Malta @ reasonable prices (she can't zed), it would be appreciated. Maybe our members in Europe go there? Flt times from Paris are weird timing for our DL flts. LCCs?
    Thanks in advance, nonrevvers!

I've been to Santorini & Mykonos and would highly recommend Santorini. Great places to eat and beautiful scenery (amazing sunsets). Took the ferry from Parea to Santorini, then ferry to Mykonos and rev flight back to ATH. Mykonos has a party island reputation but I much preferred Santorini. Stayed in Oia in Santorini with great views of the Caldera. For Athens, you shouldn't need more than 3 days to see the major sites. If you're into gyros/souvlaki, there are plenty of really good places in Syntagma Square.

I've never been to Malta but a quck check on flightconnections.com - All flights worldwide on a map shows 3 flights/day LHR-MLA on Air Malta that should work with a flight across the pond as well as flights on BA, Air Malta and Easyjet from LGW but not sure if DL still flies to LGW or just LHR. From AMS, Transavia and Air Malta are options. From ATH, Ryanair and Aegean show 3 flights/week each. From MXP, Ryanair has 3 flights/wk and from FCO, Ryanair, Air Malta and Alitalia have flights to MLA.

    We only fly LHR <sigh>
But--that link is great--thank you so much! We'll get on it but niece seems to want Greece more than Malta. Trip isn't until wk of 24th. She has to be back in Paris for husband's conference and our seats to ATH are limited, so CDG is much easier. LHR could be a better solution--guess we'll play some more w/numbers. Really appreciate the help.

Ok--we've regrouped, sorta. It's just elder sister and I hoping to make it to ATH via JFK. IF loads deteriorate, does anyone have an idea how to search for LCC or similar to get to Greece. Our target island is Paros, so looking for any ways to access from other cities. I really need some help-maybe from LHR? If we commit to JFK we're limited to DL to cross the pond, as she's on a pass. SOS--please help me! I'm up to my eyeballs w/Boss this week--home renovations and my back are KILLING ME (almost literally...) I'd be grateful for any advice, websites, etc etc etc...

Home renovations and a bad back, we’ve got to get you some help.
OK, going with Star Alliance, maybe A3 out of LHR/ATH/PAS. The Forum’s Athens go-to is Vulindlela, maybe he can come up with something, I drop him a line for you.

mrs767er, one thing I do is head to wikipedia and type in IATAXXX (XXX is airport code). This gives you a list of all airlines flying into that airport. From that list you can find the LLC's. To get to ATH you can do Vueling from Barcelona, Transavia from Amsterdam, take the long way with Scoot out of SIN (starts June 20th), Ryanair and easyjet out of Berlin, easyjet out of Milan. Those seem to be the places to try that Delta flies to. Seems ATH it the best place for flights to PAS

I have also been looking at how to get to ATH and my conclusion was to go to LHR. On ID travel there are lots of flights between the two. Alternatively, I think there might be a low cost carrier (Ryan air/ easy jet) that goes directly from London to Santorini. You might have to get a taxi to LGW, but cost wise it might be a wash versus getting to ATH and then ferrying to Santorini. Just an idea! ATH is always a tough one to nonrev- on AA you have to worry about weight restricting. Good luck!

I just looked on Skyscanner and there is an Easy jet flight at 6:35am out of LGW straight to Santorini. It hovers around $175-250. BA also does it, but they are in the $500 range. You're probably looking at a night in London, but it's an easier way to do it. I don't know about Delta, but with AA you can usually always get to London.
