Ripped jeans are "EXTREME" casual! But for real, I would still wear the travel/slacky athletic wear pants (not leggings!) even in economy - and I have with Asian carriers since they're even more strict. Long haul in jeans is just so uncomfortable though, maybe that's a ladies vs. men thing.

Yeah ripped jeans just scream "EXTREME" casual. You know it wasn't that many years ago that AA's Travel Guide listed "torn, dirty, or frayed clothing" on our NEVER appropriate list and you couldn't jumpseat in jeans - how times have changed

I think the days of ‘dressing up’ to fly are gone. Just look at revenue passengers in J or even F, often in sweats or tracksuits. They whole thing with non-rev is that you are supposed to ‘blend in’ and not stand out as a non-fare paying person on a given flight. I suppose non-rev dress codes have to move with the times and adjust with how flying is now, and what people wear.

Yeah you're right about that, there was a time people use to dress up to fly, there were multicourse meals served in coach and AA's fleet had a 747 Luxury Liner which had a coach lounge with a piano bar... and Revatron -no extra charge.

I wish I could have experienced the original Jumbos. They were such a marvel at the time. My earliest memory of flying was on AA from GLA-ORD back in 1992. We flew on their 767-200 Luxury Liner in Y and were served veal steak for dinner. I remember the paint scheme (old ‘bare’ aluminium) blew my mind.

Aluminum polished to a mirror finish- now it's carbon fiber and paint but I do like the new logo.
