Does anyone know what the dates are for the travel embargo on United Syd-Lax? I remember i got stuck once around this time of the year due to the travel embago.

Also interesting that this year they don't seem to be doing direct services to MEL, like they did last January. Mind you, last year we did not have VA or DL on the route.

True that... but the flights on QF seem pretty full up. I tried coming back from LAX last month on a prize ticket, there were 70 staff listed for 20 available seats! I stuck it around all night and made it to SYD thankfully.

While you're here JD any chance you can check QF93/09Dec and QF94/QF108/12Dec for me?

I flew the directs to Mel last year and they were always really empty.. maybe thats why they didnt do it this year.

Thats surprising they would be empty, as a lot of traffic still seems to feed on to MEL. I know that United do not have the 747ER, thus payload restrictions would be a killer on the direct routes. Qantas has trouble at times even with the ER's and a full load. Come to think of it, I have seen the 380 also restricted lately.
