Now that several US airlines have announced that they intend to charge for 'checked' bags the question is will this apply to non-rev travel.
If this does apply to non-rev travel should non-charging airlines apply some sort of reciprocal charge to staff of those charging airlines?

The baggage charges that Alaska has implemented (to be put into place on July 1) will include nonrev travel UNLESS you are listed and cleared in first class. I think it is a shame that the industry has had to resort to this to stay afloat but I know that the costs are higher and revenue is not keeping up. Heck, I think this is the first time in the 11 years I have been with the company that we have not offered round the clock overtime/double time in June!
No, I don't think the noncharging airlines should institute a separate charge just for nonrevs - after all, they will catch up in short order anyway . . . .
