I was told by a Delta flight attendant several years ago that non-rev children(other than infants in laps) have to be at least 11 ys. old before they can be seated in Business Elite. Is this true? Families traveling with several children would take up extra seats! Thanks for all replies.

Caitee--no infants in arms for nonrev biz elite
Sad to say that the 8 yr old minimum (which it has been for at least 10 yrs) has now been dropped to 6 and it makes NO SENSE to me.
Its rare to get a family of 4 into BE on most int flights these days AND if they seldom travel they will use S2 and take whatever seats they are now entitled to have.

Yeah, I wouldn't understand that drop in minimum age for Biz if they're still going to keep a rule in place at all.

Another Q about nonrev's in Biz on DL.....last week on an INTL segment my parents were told by the gate agent in ATL that as OAL parents, they weren't eligible for Business, they could only ride in back. Which would have been fine except she said they were now full in coach. It gave them a scare but all turned out well in the end and they made it. The only reason I ask is that the friendly DL agent at my station was helping me with the loads and told me, the day before the flight, that since there were more J seats than all nonrev's listed, they too would have a shot at being upgraded.

For future knowledge, what is the policy? Maybe it was specific to my airline?

I think so much is dependent on the HK situation.
Seldom does DL upgrade inconvenienced OAL revs (I've seen partner revs move up --prob medallions)
I know the policy is not but flexibility at some point has to be responsibility of gate agent. No one really wants to leave any nonrevs when there are empty seats, but I don know some agents who just clear who they can last minute to get the flight out.
Guess that doesn't definitively answer the Q, but I'm hoping that if we need our AF zed seats last min JNB/CDG , they put US up front!!

Hi DC333. On our several DL flts out of JFK over to France, we (NW parents, even before NW cosied up top DL) always got up front, and gratefully so!
