Default Last minute CHEAP weekend getaway ideas?

It's extremely rare that my hubby & I BOTH have a weekend off, but it just so happens that this weekend it appears to be working out. We have a 3 yr old and a 6 yr old, and major rain/tornados have put a damper on our plan to drive to Branson for the weekend. We could go and just hit the indoor water park, but...It just so happens that there are 8 seats still open out of TUL to ATL on DL at 5:50 tonight. Any destination suggestions for a cheap weekend? (I'm talking $200 for everything but food). All passports are current. I should be back on Sunday night, but I could get away with getting back to TUL on Monday by 2pm. The dog is already boarded, laundry is washing right now, so all I need to do is find a destination and then throw appropriate clothing in the carry ons. IDEAS? Even if it's not for THIS weekend, I'd love to have some suggestions for future last minute plans. Disneyworld is my hubby's fav, and since airline employees get SIGNIFICANT discounts to the on property resorts and they'll pick you up for free at the airport my husband usually wins with that affordable suggestion. I'd just like to have something, ANYthing to suggest instead! Bring it on folks!

TUL to MSP is wide open too...so anything that direction is certainly welcome too! Hmm...And returning from MSP looks better also...we're hoping to stick to DL flights to keep things simple.

Well you could spend the weekend in Atlanta. There's a Braves/Diamondback baseball game, Stone Mountain Park complete with an evening lasershow spectacular Lasershow Spectacular - Stone Mountain Park in Atlanta, GA and the The World of Coca-Cola® - Atlanta, GA. Nonrev1/Chris had an article with a list of attractiions and activites for a fun faimily weekend, but of course I can't find it now.
Hopefully something I mentioned will spark an interest.

Hopefully you're on your way somewhere but if you're still deciding, I'd avoid the mid-atlantic/NE corridor tonight. Lots of strong T-storms expected could strand you at the hub. MSP sounds like a good direction. Mall of America, the UP of Michigan, Chicago? Priceline a cheap hotel too.

Thanks for the suggestions! We considered Stone Mountain and Mall of America, but in the end it just seem less stressful (no worries of getting a 4 of us on the same flight, at least one adult somewhere near each child) to just drive 3.5 hrs to Branson, MO. Our kids were THRILLED with the hotel we chose (Castle Rock) because it had a huge indoor water park. We went to Dixie Stampede as well, which is always a big hit with our little guys.

Speaking of Mall of America...are there any DL employee discounts available for the amusement park in the mall or the aquarium? Those options sounded fun but pricey.

Thanks for the update, I was wondering where you ended up.

As far as discounts for the amusement parks, you might also want to check out Sam's Club and Costco, both offer discounted passes.

Thanks Migflanker! I'll definately check out Sam's Club (we're deprived out here in Oklahoma - no Costco)!
