Hi!
I wonder if anyone has experience in flying to Myanmar with an ID ticket?
From BKK i take for granted that Thai Airways (TG) will not raise any issues in accepting non rev PAXs...but the million dollar question is: What about in Myanmar? Will they accept an ID ticket?
I really wanted to avoid buying a roundtrip ticket (AirAsia)...
Has anyone been there?

If you have a TG agreement should not matter which port you are in... right?
Went to Burma (Myanmar) October of last year and again in March of this year.
I chose to non rev in but bought a cheap ticket out. The reason being is that they do not get many tourist and I felt that non-reving out might be a hassle.
The International airport is new and quite nice but hectic at the entrance. The Domestic terminal is OLD, very OLD!
There is a USD10 departure tax that you must pay prior to check-in AND make sure your $10 is brand new, no creases or wrinklse or they will not accept..period!
I love the people, but be aware that they are under constant supervision and can get a bit guarded when talking to you so don't talk politics.
Now that "The Lady' has been released it is probably OK to talk about her but be careful.
Myanmar Beer is fantastic....even if it is brewed by the military.
The taxis are old white Toyota's and I mean old...but cheap and plentiful.

P.S. Medical treatment is very very poor...do not get sick or injured, if you do contact your embassy immediately or head to the SOS clinic at the Inya Lake Hotel in Rangoon....this is from personal experience....
P.P.S. Don't forget to get your entry visa prior to arriving Myanmar...I believe they have cancelled the Visa On Arrival at RGN airport, worth checking further though..

Flassher, thank you for your inputs. I think its a good strategy to non rev in but its safer to buy a ticket to leave the country. You never know...
I wonder if they even know the first thing about ID tickets :/

Mmmm interesting points. Many people in our cargo terminal are Burmese
I'd say airline like TG has standards so should be OK. I'm always of the view that if you have agreement and they don't follow, can refer thru your own pass office to complain to other airline. I don't tolerate being scammed...
The ticket prices ex RGN are quite cheap.....and they're even cheap into RGN....so have a hassle free time in Burma, buy a full fare and see a country time has forgotten.
Did I mention....the beer is bloody fantastic...
