Default Travel Discounts: Hotel, Car - Who has the best deals?

Where do you go to get the best deals on your travel?

I am mainly looking for discounts on hotels and rental cars.

    Thanks

Your employee discounts is a good start, followed by association or memberships such as Sams, triple AAA, USAA, other veteran groups AARP.

triple AAA? What exactly is AAAAAAAAA anyway? And for some reason, asking for an employee discount followed by AARP just seems so contradictory :-P

Ok, I got it. I don't know any place that gives two discounts on top of one another, its usually one or the other. Just got to see which one the car rental place likes the best. I've had better luck with triple A or USAA.

Really Brian you don’t know AAA (American Automobile Association), you will when your battery dies.

seems to me triple AAA is AAA AAA AAA. Makes sense to me. Kinda like the first listing for any business.
I just call USAA--that's enough A's for us!

RRI not good choice for females traveling alone--only outdoor entries--no hallways. Not that the digs aren't ok, but safety factor for femmes is very important. May as well be at Knights Inns...Parking lot room entry is not okay for women, for obvious reasons.

Thanks guys - going to Los Angeles next weekend and the kids and I are meeting up with my husband who is setting something up at LAX - we figured we piggyback on his trip as all we have to cover is our food, car rental and hopefully things go well enough so he doesn't end up working the whole weekend- but he needs to be available for when the come online on Labor Day.
