    Default Tricky Weekend: Nonrevs Beware..

This is a tricky one as a NorEaster in BOS, EWR,JFK. Expect delays again in PHL,ORD,DTW with cold wind chills and icy roads in MCI, ICT, STL, One good spot, the Southwest and South Texas. Watch loads carefully as 1/1/14 was a Embargo day for most airlines so the rollover effect begins. I saw up to 68 standbys on LAX..

I had to laugh out loud today--on the delta.nonrev FB page, someone wanted to know if they'd drop today's buddy pass embargo because of inclement weather!! DUH?

To be fair, some flights *out* of a hub can have lots of open seats due to misconnects. If someone is trying to get home to MDW out of DTW, their saving grace could be the group of 8 coming from PHL that can't make it to DTW in time. Assuming no cancellations, leaving a hub affected by IRROPS is often quite easy. It's the day after IRROPS that's REALLY hard, because they have to play catch-up.

I'm stuck in PHX overnight. Everything is booked, no idea how I'll get back home at this point (MCO, or anywhere in FL)

From what I can tell, it's done by a DL person @LHR--seems to be sanctioned. Make sure you don't quote anything form DL EVER--Mod gets downright NASTY w/some folks

Made it to JFK, and nearly 16 nonrevs made it on a flight that was oversold, due to people not showing up for the flight due to weather. WOHOOO!

Well I have non refundable broadway tickets for Tuesday so I'd better be able to get to JFK! Unfortunately the person I'm traveling with is a travel companion so they are unable to buy zeds. All flights around mine were great until this storm...now every flight leading up to mine are oversold. But mine are still holding strong. Almost 50 seats SEA-JFK on Monday night and a few over 20 coming home wed morning. I'm hoping it's far out enough that people will find other ways to get to/from JFK instead of taking seats on my flight!

If you have any problems, can I pick up your tkts at will call? hehe...
I'm sure you'll make it with so many options thru DTW, CVG, ATL, BOS, ORD, SLC...
