    Default Anchorage

Great metropolis with excellet scenery. I've got my eyes on this place to living one day. With all kinds of aircraft maintenance going on over in Anchorage, just give me one reason not to go there. Clean air, great fishing, endless daylight right now. But I'm so far into this career at IAH maybe I can retire in two years then go up. Just thinkin.

Here is what I like about Anchorage. Military affiliation. Lots of retirees there, military, former military mostly ARMY and AIR FORCE. Pretty cool. A common bond of just small talk about our tours of duty. Military freindly, foreign wives. Lots of Asians and Samoans, Pacific Islanders. In a way, a bit like it was on Saipan, only in a U.S. STATE with all the amnemities like that of the lower 48.

Now throw all this into a pool of just plain gorgeous and beautiful scenery.

Keep in mind, 6 months from now that endless daylight will have the other side of the coin showing

And not only military affiiation. There is actually a private sector with plenty of jobs, good paying jobs. Oil fields, police, aviation jobs, base jobs working for the military, hospitals, there is Costco, Sams, Carrs, Fred Meyer, restaurants, banks, credit unions, construction, roofers, you name it.....

Checked out a military surplus store, saw some interesting MOSIN NAGANTS Russian made rifles. Picked one up, was checking it out. Nice craftsmanship, all wood. Bolt action. Great sites, when I got done checking it out, my hands smelled like wood with a hint of oil penetrant. These guns came right out of a wooden cashe. I want me one. They sold for 175 bucks. Alot easier to buy a weapon in Alaska. No FFL dealers involved. That be bad news for the moose.
