    Default Nonrevs Beware...Check In ATL, DFW...TSA @#$%$%!

There have been numerous delays at our busiest airports because of TSA under staffing and security issues.

Passengers have been told to check in 3hrs prior to their flight. In ATL, you can save some time by checking in on the International side even as you fly domestic. DFW use C20, C30 checkpoints or Terminal A.

I learned first hand how much havoc this creates later in the day as all the folks who miss their flights get added to the standby list and bump nonrevs. Definitely pays to have precheck.

I have often suggested taking a dry run to check out the TSA scene and know where the pitfalls are in trying to run the security gauntlet.
Not always possible but get to know your native airport and keep up with smoothing the flow for your own self-preservation.
Good idea to know the alternatives !

ATL checkpoint construction will be completed in the next few weeks, according to a local FF there. We always use the INT station for Precheck and it's been pretty good, except when people have to come back out because they weren't entitled to use it.
At any airport, we have a tendency to arrive quite early and any extra time is for the SkyClub. For overseas, we have Priority Pass that came w/our credit card.
I don't plan too much travel this summer (and I'm champin' at the bit, but not w/loads and heavy crowds).

Instead of Pre-Check ($85 for 5 years) consider the GE (Global Entry) for $100 (same 5 yrs) giving all the benefits of Pre-Check and faster Customs handling on the return trip - maybe making that all important connection to your final destination possible instead of wishy washy maybe kinda could have happened - the GA just slammed the door - back to square 1 !

Just went to the Braves game in ATL on Thursday.
Went through TSA at about 17:00 and it was 15 minutes wait. Not bad at all.
    I was expecting the worst.

Went through TSA at DEN today. Biggest lineup seemed to be after they check your ID, those x-raypeople were going sloooow!
