Default More Asian Flight Reductions..Loads Great to Africa.

Gulf states have imposed more flight restrictions in an effort to try to slow the spread of the coronavirus outbreak.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has suspended all flights to and from Iran apart from Tehran.
Bahrain has suspended all flights to and from Dubai and Sharjah in the UAE until further notice.
Oman, Jordan, Kuwait, Iraq and Saudi Arabia have already suspended flights to Iran after cases there.
Airlines around the world have been forced to reduce flights as countries try to stop the spread of the potentially deadly disease.

On Tuesday, Dubai's airport authority said that it had suspended all flights to and from Iran with the exception of the capital Tehran.
Passengers arriving from Tehran will be screened, it said. Customers have been urged to contact their airlines if they need to rebook flights.
In addition, the Kingdom of Bahrain has suspended all scheduled passenger flights to and from Dubai until further notice, the airport authority said.
On Monday, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain reported their first cases of coronavirus, all involving people who had travelled from Iran.
On the same day Iran denied a cover-up over how many there had died from the disease.
To try to prevent the spread of the virus, Iranian authorities have ordered the nationwide cancellation of concerts, football matches, and closures of schools and universities in many provinces, as a precaution.
The global airline industry body, the International Air Transport Association (IATA), warned on Friday that airlines stand to lose $29.3bn (£23.7bn) of revenue this year due to the effects of the virus.
IATA predicted that demand for air travel would fall for the first time in more than a decade.

Because of the suspension in service to/from mainland China and Hong Kong, AA, DL and I think UA are deploying some of those idle aircraft on domestic routes.

    AA
    ORD/LAS - a daily 787-8 from March 5 - March 27
    ORD/SFO - a daily 787-8 from March 28 - April 24
    DFW/LAS - up to twice daily on 777-200s & 787-8s from March 5 - May 6
    JFK/LAX - daily 777-200 April 7- April 24

So bummed! I was eyeing a Spring getaway in Asia earlier this year. Waited until the end of January to nix that idea and look at Europe, but now that's going down the drain as well. I'm choosing to be risk averse with this situation due to healthcare options (lack thereof) and sudden border/quarantine controls. Looks like it's reached US and South America soil now so I'm gonna give it a month or two until it settles.

It has no real impact on my travel plans mostly because I had no international destination plans until summer anyway. I am completely unconcerned about flying domestically since it really doesn't look like this is more contagious than any other virus so the risk of exposure isn't any greater than it would be for the flu/cold/any generic creeping crud. Relatively small chance of contraction and relatively small chance of death even if you do contract it (best I can tell <2% die which is less than the flu). People are panicked for no real reason.

On the upside, I am strongly considering a quick trip to Disneyland with the idea that the park will be less full due to the overall freak out of the general public. Definite win for me!

We plan to go to EU in 2 weeks.
Not worried about the virus, but concerned about sudden cancellations and such.
I guess if it falls apart, we will go to Havana for the 3rd time.

Where do you get those stats from?

"The virus that causes COVID-19 seems to be spreading easily and sustainably in the community" -CDC

And..it's no secret that the mortality rate is 10-20x or more higher, than the flu...alarmingly so the older you are >50. Flu is .1%, this is 2%+..you got part of that right, if you average things out. (Bad math is not safe math)

It may be too early to panic, but..we could be 12-15mo away from a vaccine with something that will mutate and make a few rounds globally yet.
