Hey everyone !

Just a minute to introduce myself - the other half works for the airlines (Southwest to be exact), but of course who does all the travel planning.....

Located in Tampa - just us, no kids - two furballs disguised as cats. He works for the airlines, I work for a major world-wide hotel chain, so we have it made...ahhhh, life is good

Just got back from Mexico, heading to Chicago next month, and next year - it's off to London for 10 days !

If anyone has any questions about hotels, etc. I'll be happy to try and help out where/when I can - ask away !

Welcome aboard. Jenny you are quite the conundrum. Your profile says you joined in 02 and are in Vegas. Is this one of those secret/duel identity things? Are you really Diana Prince?

Hey, another fellow SWA employee spouse!!....

I am also a spouse of a SWA employee (he is one of our captains) based here in PHX....you are so very lucky to have the best of both worlds!!! WE too had a family member that worked for Starwood (St Regis, Westin, Sheraton, etc) until a year ago and boy, did we have fun all over the world with those wonderful savings!!...so enjoy it as much as you can! We are headed to Paris in a few days for a long weekend..I wish we still had those hotel perks (although prices in the city are not bad this time of the year!)....happy travels to you!

Was in Vegas when I first joined, didn't do much on the board, then he got transferred to Tampa and I got active back here.

I thought it was something like that. BTW, while you're in Chicago, stop in at Giordano's for pizza, it really, really good. In fact I always bring a pizza back with me, (they partially bake and freeze it) it's the ultimate Chicago souvenir.

Luckily I'm going with a "native" Chicagoian (???). I'm rather excited as I've never been to the town before, although not looking forward to freezing my back end off....

But I have 3 nights free at the Palmer House Hotel (love my hotel benefits!), tickets already in hand for a play at The Steppenwolf theater, and sense of adventure in place - so it's business as usual

If you don't mind me asking, how do hotel benefits work? Do you pay less like one would for ID90 airline tickets or do you get free nights every so often? Is it just your chain or others as well?

The Palmer House is an excellent location, heart of the loop, a couple blocks from the Art Institute. Have a great time, eat some deep dish, and chow down on some Chicago dogs for me.

It depends on each hotel chain I guess. My particular company it depends on which "brand" you stay with. With the parent brand, if it's owned and managed, it's free. If it's not O&M, then it's a sliding rate depending on the hotel. For the international properties the offer a "staff rate" - example, we're going to London next year, staying at a fantastic Hotel for 6 nights, and whole thing is only costing us 192 pounds total, including VAT and breakfast every morning. In London

For the other brands it can be anywhere from $29-$40 dollars a night depending on the brand. Another example - a co-worker of mine went to NYC recently and stayed in one of our hotels - just off Times Square - and only paid $39 per night for 5 nights.

Spoiled ?? Yes, but we're worth it.
