    Default Sacramento based parents

    Hi All,

Our daughter is an airline employee and we are new toe non-rev travel. We've done a couple of trips with the automated phone listing system - not too bad, but it limits us to her airline.

We heard about ZED tickets and want to figure out how to get those - myIDtravel? How do we get registered on that? I'm sure we'd be willing to pay ZED fares for better routes and sure seats sometimes.

    Thanks for any info.

It all depends on who your daughter works for. There is another system for electronic ticketing that UA uses for quite a few airlines, and I'm sure others do as well. Though I believe WN uses myIDTravel almost exclusively now.

That said... better routes? Maybe, depending on where you're going. Sure seats? Nope! Even though you're paying for it, you're still standby. And you're also at the bottom of the list. But maybe that other airline has more seats than your own from time to time. Or maybe you could use a mix of ZEDs and your own airline.

Welcome! Your daughter would be the one who would have access to myidtravel, arrange for payment of zed fares and create listings on airlines that have a zed agreement with her airline. As spongeblue already mentioned, nothing is definite about zed tickets. It's still standby just like on your daughter's airline but you will go after the zed airline's own employees, employee family and buddy pass riders. When you are ready to try it out, feel free to check back here for load information.

I see she is a DL employee, so you have a great source of DL folks here and all the other airline (OAL) folks to advise you. Zeds can be confusing but take it slowly and read everything you can when she gives you access to her Deltanet pass travel site. We have a fair amount of OAL foreign carrier employees, too, so you might get lucky somewhere down the line with info. Welcome to the best place for nonrev assistance. (I can tell you that FB site for delta nonrev is not much help with any aspect of nonrev travel)

Welcome aboard FOMTS. The Forum has an excellent article explaining ZED fares.
I think you will find it most helpful.
