Hi, I recently tried to travel on Virgin America (VX) from LAS to JFK, a flight that was wide open and I knew I could get on. I went to my counter, bought a ZED fare and went to list because I was told by multiple phone agents that I had to list at the ATO. I got to their flight counter and they told me that they do not take flight coupons. Does anyone know what the deal is with them? How do I list? It says that we (US Airways) have an agreement with them, to buy the flight coupon, list with their res staff, and go to the ATO. Has anyone else had any experience with this airline? It is a nice one to fly (good IFE, food, etc.). How do I fly on them if they don't take a ZED? Don't all airlines take flight coupons?

Hi Jeff,
I tried to get a zed fare a few months ago on Virgin Blue. What I came up with was the only flight you can use zed fares on is Virgin and had to end up buying a ticket to get to Fiji.

Hello!

What I can tell you about VX is that since they are a 'ticketless' carrier (no ETKTs are created for pax), you have to do everything through them at the ATO; list and pay for the ticket based on what your carrier agreement is with them. This has to do with the limitations to their IT system and the ticketless structure they operate under. Virgin Blue operates the same way, as does Westjet, AirTran, JetBlue and any other carrier operating a ticketless model and using a check-in system similar to Navitaire's Open Skies.

DJ have terrible staff travel arrangements... as far as I can tell they get Virgin Blue, V Australia, Emirates, I think soon Virgin America and that's it

Really? I found the IFE slightly troublesome... and the seat pitch was TERRIBLE!
