This one's for you Mig... really need that PM back

I'm meeting my mother in JFK in Oct - I won 2xQF tickets MELLAX rtn but as i'll be in BAH there is no point going home and then across the oceans.

It's cheaper for her to continue to JFK on AA iso QF (QF charge parents the extended ZED fare). Is there anything other than her ZED ticket she needs to prove she is my mother... like a letter or something? The agreement doesn't say anything but the last thing I want is for her to be stuck at LAX with those clipboard toting people offering advice and then suckering $20.

Secondly, is it likely that AA staff in ORD would accept an ORDLGA coupon on the one ORDJFK flight there is each day? I recall asking an agent in Austin this one day and she said no problem if the agent is young (implies doesn't care?), but then I asked someone on the phone one day and she said it would be an "exception to the rule"

EDIT - This also got me thinking, i've never nonrevved on AA over 2 sectors with checked bags. If I checked in at AZO in the morning and told them I was aiming for the JFK flight, what if I then got to ORD and had to take an LGA flight. My bags would go... missing? Or would AZO just tag them to ORD and make me recheck?

Nick I've never used a ZED ticket and haven't checked bags since 2001 (I travel very light ). Hopefully "AA-ZED", or someone with personal knowledge will answer your questions. If not, I promise to wade through JetNet for you. As far as a letter, I think I'd go with a photo, moms just love showing off their handsome sons to flight crews.

Hey Nick - hopefully I can answer all your questions.

Is there anything other than her ZED ticket she needs to prove she is my mother
No. The only things she needs are her CX validated ZED ticket and a government issued ID. Airline ID is only required of the airline employee.

Secondly, is it likely that AA staff in ORD would accept an ORDLGA coupon on the one ORDJFK flight there is each day?
AA staff in ORD should accept the ORDLGA coupon for ORDJFK or even ORDEWR, since LGA/JFK/EWR are co-terminals. You may want to have Mom refer the AA agent to N*TVLZEDREROUTE (Sabre reference page) should they give her any trouble.

If I checked in at AZO in the morning and told them I was aiming for the JFK flight, what if I then got to ORD and had to take an LGA flight. My bags would go... missing?
The agent in AZO should check your bag to LGA , if that's what's shown in your PNR. If, however, you are transferred to the JFK flight, the bag could go either way really depending on whether there's time to pull the bag and whether your transfer to JFK was voluntary or because you were not accommodated on the LGA flight.

Or would AZO just tag them to ORD and make me recheck?
AZO should not make you short check to ORD.

AA-ZED, you saved me from having to wade through pages of "ZED results" on JetNet.

Thanks for the info both of you.

I will prob just shoot for LGA myself as it will be easier with so many flights. Glad I don't have to recheck like I do on CX!
