Besides taxi and shuttles, Does anybody know how much of a hassle it is to take public transport from the Airport to the French Quarter Area? Never been there.

I took the bus and it was fine.
It takes about an hour and does not go into the quarter so you need to get a trolly once downtown or walk about 10-15 minutes.

As Vulindlela said, there's a bus. It's (Jefferson Transit (JeT) not RTA. You can catch it on the upper level outside door 7 ( near Delta) in the median. Be careful when you check the schedule, it changes on the week-end. E-2 airport bus info Jefferson Transit Have a great time. Word ot the wise- don't wear black to Cafe du Monde...trust me.

Oh Cloudberry, you've got to go to Cafe du Monde for beignets and chicory coffee. BTW, the beignets come three to an order, so don't over order.
