    Cool ORD-Taxi In Time

    LAX/ORD
We pushed back late but landed a little early, smiles all around, little did we know what was to come next - we were about to enter the…….ORD Taxi Zone.
There’s a lot of construction at ORD and there’s a “new” runway 10R/28L (opened late Oct.15) and AA’s gates are among the farthest from that runway’s touchdown point - how far you ask, 5 to 7 miles, yes miles. At about the 20 minute mark of our taxi (my seat mate kept an eye on the time-a connection) people started getting antsy and my seat mate announced that we were officially lost and probably would end up at MDW.
A few minutes later the Captain lighten the mood when he announced we had landed in Wisconsin and were rolling to Chicago.
And then just within sight of our goal, all progress stopped - uh-huh, gate-waiting delay.
The Captain announced the delay should only be a couple of minutes, but this was all to much for one little boy who suddenly stood up and announced to his mom and all concerned,
“I have to go to the bathroom NOW, RIGHT NOW!”
And so we sat (the Captain gave updates) and my seat mate wondered aloud if this whole thing wasn’t part of some elaborate conspiracy to sell more turkey sandwiches; yeah it was then I began to think I was given this seat for a reason.
At any rate we finally arrived at the gate about an hour after touchdown. My seat mate declared the taxi-in time was 45 minutes, all I’ll say is, it was a rather lengthy taxi-in.
Now this was a beautiful summer night, perfect weather, one can only imagine what snowy weather will do to that taxi timeline. AA has added three minutes to the schedule for eastbound arrivals at ORD because of the longer taxi time, but I don’t know if that’s enough.
Word to the wise, if you’re connecting at ORD, factor in a little extra time and you might want to pack an extra sandwich too.
