    Question What’s Up With PreCheck?

So what’s up with PreCheck? My last couple of flights it’s been a closed PreCheck line, a laminated placard and a very slow march through the rigmarole of coats OFF, belts and shoes ON, liquids and laptops (and sometimes iPads & phones depending on the airport) OUT; plus a whole lot of people grumbling and complaining. What ever happened to the expedited lane?

Oh man, don't tell me that! I just spent my $85 on enrollment for that while I had a 5-hour layover in Miami!

I haven't seen any issues on the travel forums. Maybe an anomaly? Holiday help (UGH)? Staffing shortage? Yeah, I'd be ticked, too! I have to renew my GE as well as my passport (running out of pages!) but I've only had an issue in one airport (SEA) and I think it was the timing for staff.

Yeah SEA, I’ve heard about a few long lines there, but TUS, I just have to ask if the PreCheck lane there is ever open? Trust me this topic was much discussed as the PreCheck Placard Brigade fumbled for our liquids and took out our iPads. At least at TUS I got to keep my shoes on, at LGB they set off alarms. (head in hands)

I traveled thru several small airports in the past year which were not pre-check equipped but after getting the 3 beeps, I was given a card which allowed me to go thru the WTMD with my shoes on but did have to leave the liquids out at some. I hope this has not been your experience at your home airport LAX. I can't imagine standing on lines at T4 where the lines regularly stretch down the escalator and never seem to move.

No, the PreCheck lane has always been open and the line long, sometimes it even doubles back on itself and then down the escalator. (laughing)
