Hawaiian Airlines are offering customers a new way to enjoy in-flight entertainment, by handing out iPad Minis. From September 1, the airline will roll out 1,400 minis across 14 routes to the South Pacific, Asia and the US mainland from Hawaiian Airline's base in Honolulu.

With the mini, fliers can access more than 100 hours of games, TV shows and movies.
"Hawaiian Airlines' signature on-board hospitality is already very popular with travelers, but we wanted to go even further to ensure our customers' travel experience is more enjoyable," said Hawaiian Airlines' vice president of product development, Blaine Miyasato.
Apple iPads for In-Flight Entertainment

For passengers in Economy Class, the high-tech entertainment will come at a price - $17 on-board, or $15 if they pay at the gate. But Business Class travellers can use the tablets free of charge.

To make all this possible, the airline teamed up with Bluebox Avionics, who provides airline carriers worldwide with portable In-flight Entertainment (IFE) solutions.
The latest alternative is not designed to replace the current in-flight entertainment systems, according to Apple Insider, but will function rather as an additional feature. The systems built onto the back of the jet's seats will still be offered for free to all passengers.
