Actually a reduction of 66 seats. The 762 currently has 168 seats (10F 30J 128Y). Still, on some days it is difficult enough to snag a seat on the 762 so any reduction in capacity without a comparable increase in frequency is a . There were unconfirmed rumors that the JFK-LAX route would go to an hourly "shuttle" service between 6am & 9pm once they have enough A321s. This would be a net increase of 18 seats per day based on the current 9 762 flights today.

An hourly transcon shuttle on a 5/6 hour flight , I just don't know about that.

Though I can't find it at the moment, yes, AA is going to be starting I believe 12-14 daily flights between LAX / JFK once the A321s start rolling out.

They made it a point in their press release to talk about the greater option customers will have when flying this transcon route / connecting from other cities, with their increased service.
