Hi, I'm new to the forum and I just have a quick question. I recieve flight benefits through my dad and recently Lufthansa has changed (because I'm older and he's retired) what they allow me to fly on. It used to be get a ticket on whoever you want at the ID-90 rate, now they say I can only fly on Lufthansa. Now, does that count as well for Lufthansa codeshares? Now I know that not every flight in star alliance has a codeshare, for example I can't get up to phl on UA anymore. But, I noticed that, for example, the SFO-ICN flight had a LH number even though it wasn't their equipment. I don't want to bother HR about this, I figured someone on the forum would know. So which is it, anything with an LH number or specifically an LH plane?

If you are not a dependent your benefits on LH will not be applicable on an another airline.

It really depends on what is actually stated in your father's agreement. But in general the answer is no. Your ticket is only valid on the airline that 'marketed' it, not on any codeshare. But that's not to say that an inexperienced or unattentive UA agent wouldn't clear you, but just be careful and don't count on it because you could get stuck on the other side of the pond with no way to get home.

I have been cleared on UA operated LH codeshare flights with a LH ticket but I certainly wasn't suppose to be! Occasionally practical airport application runs contrary to what's stated in the formal agreement.
