Default ARPB Airline Retirees from Pan Am, Eastern, etc...

    Hello,

We are Eastern retirees and just joined the Airline Retirees Pass Bureau. We get ZED fares on Delta and AirTran and flat fee passes on several other airlines. Does anyone know the priority we get on, for example, Delta? Is it the same as OAL ZED fares, is it higher than buddy pass? Any info anyone knows about using ARPB would be interesting and I hope we can discuss.

The OAL zeds I see flying on DL are listed as S4, DOH as flight date, so bottom of the list. Not sure if they are in order of check-in time if there are multiple pax.

Mrs 767er, many thanks for your input! We notice you have helped many others here with questions and we have appreciated reading your many answers. It is hard to find out much about the ARPB services, but as retirees from airlines that disappeared we are lucky to have any flight priveliges. We are trying to be very conservative and only attempt flights that look very very good, like half empty or better. We can call the ARPB and get sepcific availability including the current listed standbys for any flight, but really we need to already have some good prospects in mind before we proceed as the process of calling and checking is a bit cumbersome. So we look for flights whose seat maps on delta.com show half empty (or better) as a starting point, then try to narrow down options from there. But we are always in danger of being overwhelmed with other nonrevs or HKs since we have no insight. Thankfully we are very flexible, and, for instance we are happy with ANY destination in Europe when we are headed that way because we get around there well on trains, ryanair etc...
    ...
So, sticking with DL, what do you think of trying to get on
    DL116 ATL-STR 8AUG
    DL117 STR-ATL 17 AUG
    ???
    regards

Whatever you do, ignore delta.com seat charts--better info here! Inbound date looks great today--outbound might get tricky. If you are flexible, great, We can check closer to your dates. Cheers!
