I just need a big shoulder to cry upon. I know all of us today are worried about our jobs. We AA agents in STX were told yesterday that we have been outsourced and the as of 15April, American Eagle would take over the AA operation. Most of the AA agents have only worked at STX (31years to 11 years seniority). AA has not yet offered us relocation stations (oh goodie..EWR, TUL, ETC...) Even with the high seniority, the age is too young to retire. We are so sad. Thank you for you big shoulder.

HI! I just wanted to let you know that a similiar situation happened to our station here in MKE. Waaayyyyy back it used to be AA but then was switched to Eagle. Now I must admit that I have only worked for Eagle--first as a flight attend and then transferred to the station as an agent, BUT many of my co-workers stayed on from AA to Eagle (also, many of the TWA agents stayed on and went from TWA to Eagle). They don't regret it and still enjoy their work. They feel they work harder, but have more responsibility--altho less pay. In fact, 2 of our 4 current Lead Agents are former AA agents. You may want to consider this option or at least try it if it is offered to you especially if transferring isn't an option for you. Good Luck! Jean H--Flyinlow

I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope they offer you options you can live with. How much worse can things get in our industry?

Sorry to hear your news. Unfortunately there isn't a lot of good news in the industry now.
    Good luck.

Thanks to you all. Monday, AA announce a Transitional leave program. They will not offer our transfer stations until March 31. The transitional leave decision needs to be made by March 23. So..one girl is 60/retire. The next 4 agents were born and raised on STX..they will take the leave because they do not want the transfer.
and....yeah.......I knew I was old, but did not realize I was old enough to

    RETIRE...

YEAH. So, I will retire, but not get any money until I get older.

The other agents have not been offered STX Eagle. They do not want to move and have no clue what they will do.

I think we will be ok, but sad.

    Janet,
In my 20 years with US I have closed stations, transferred, downgraded and I seem to have less seniority now then when I started.
What I have found out is the same skills that make a good airline agent, adaptability, managing stress and dealing with diverse and sometimes difficult people will always be in demand. All of my coworkers have found other employment after retirements and furloughs.
I am sure you will find something in the near future. Since you will be retired you will be able to still check here for all the current nonrev information and discounts.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss but it sounds like it might just work out okay for you in the end. Best of luck.

    Janet,

I am so sorry to hear of your unfortunate cimcumstance but am thankful that you will be able to retire. I saw many people with many years at Eastern put out with nothing. Best of luck to you wherever the future leads.

I hope that you'll stay in the forum. You're doing a great job representing STX and your airline experience and STX knowledge will always be apreciated here.
