Al:
I was told by Paul from the Europe forum to direct my questions to you regarding standby to Kuala Lumpur/Singapore.
I am thinking about non-rev on ID75 from FRA to KUL in January (Jan 17-Jan 25). Is this a good idea? Do you know what is the seat availability during that time of year from Europe to Asia and vice versa?
Thank you very much.
Joyce

Hi Joyce,
I've sent Al an e-mail notification of your question... FYI for the future - Correspondents get an e-mail notification if you make a post in a thread that they have participated in. If you don't readily find their initial "Correspondent's Post", you can go to our home page ( www.nonrev.net/ ) and find and link to it from the Correspondent's drop-down box.

Hi Joyce.
Am so sorry for the delay in responding - I usually check the boards every couple of days, but I fell in a hole (literally!!) recently and have had both arms (plus one knee, one leg and other sundry bits!) out of action.
Even now, this is taking some time to type, so I'll be brief !!
Basically, if you want to do it, just make sure you have plenty of back-ups. And I mean plenty. If you have access to a CRS or in-house airline system, get someone to bring up availability around these dates, on any carrier from any Euro city to the three big SE Asia ports of SIN BKK and KUL. You will find that they are all nearly 0 or Request for full Y, let alone anything else.
It's a bad time of the year to try for it - although it can be done. Think outside the square and have plenty of back-ups. I'd strongly suggest SIN or BKK first as there are plenty of connectors between them and KUL, as well as many more options from Europe to SIN or BKK over KUL.
Good luck. Cheers/Regards.
