London to TAS

Greetings Al,

I hope u can assist. Work for SITA, low priority, very low:0( Looking to get to TAS via MEL or SYD in early to Mid April - from LONDON. Wife + kiddy (4yrs) travelling for 1 month - any advice on making sure we get there? Best routes etc. Also any advice on where to stay in MEL for 4/5 days - we like our comforts but dont want it to cost the earth, possibly apartments?. What should we see? As for TAS -same required - probably travel around, take in the scenery in the west and east coasts + Hobart.
Last week is spare - where do u recommend - SYD, PER, BNE?? Internal flights cheaper on the web or via ID tckts?

I don't know how much this will affect your plans but all the BA flights from SIN/BKK/SYD and MEL back to London are embargoed for standby travel from 26MAR04-09MAY04 ( weight restriction due cargo load ). Note the outbounds are not yet embargoed so if you have dates and think you may use BA then list ASAP in case they put on outbound embargo.
For reference at the moment flights to both SYD and MEL outbound early to Mid April and return early to Mid May are wide open.

Hi James, Travel from Australia to London via Toyko and than London to Taskhet i believe is a better option.

Thanks Paul - appreciated. Just so I understand - you are saying I should, at the mo, have no problem getting ID90 to MEL or SYD from LON with BA (April 10th return 8th May)but might have an issue returning through SIN etc?

Just to clarify outbound to MEL on the 10th would be fine at the moment however the embargo ( I assume it applies to all staff regardless ) is in place until May 9th out of each of MEL/SIN/SYD & BKK. I'd suggest returning the 11th or 12th based on the current loads.
