2 of us (AS employee and domestic partner) have bought round trip ZED passes on QF for LAX-SYD-LAX.
We plan to travel on Fri 25FEB05 on QF12 or QF108 and return on Mon 07MAR05 on QF107 or QF11.
We have no clue on how the flight loads are on these flights or how much of a chance we'd have to get on these with nonrev ZED passes. Does anyone have hints on the best days of the week to make this route, or a way to check how busy these flights are?

If you don't hear anything back, I'd PM AL-SYD in the next couple of days, I had posted a thread on LAX-AKL and he gave me some ideas for alternatives.
Speaking of which, can you give me an idea how much the taxes/fees were for your passes? I'm budgeting about $100 for mine, and think it would be similar to yours.
Also, have you listed yet with QF? From what I've heard, some agents are very friendly and will give you info as to days of week, etc...while others do not. For some reason I'd expect QF to be pretty friendly.
The other ways I know of getting LAX-SYD w/partners are:
UA (nonstop)
HA (through HNL)
I'm sure there's tons of others.

I think the taxes were about $100, but I'll have to doublecheck. We can get ID90s for UA, maybe we should for a backup, but it's probably much more expensive than the ZED medium fares we get with QF. I'll check into it.
Is there a special phone number for Qantas nonrev listing? We haven't called yet.

The phone # for Qantas listed on my interline agreement is 800-227-4500, not sure if it is special for nonrev listing or not.
Thanks for the info on taxes too.
Also...be sure to share how things work out for you afterwards.

http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gifHi, all those flights on those dates are showing over 100 economy seats at the moment. Are you intending to tour around while you are here?
-
Thanks, Vicki, that's great news. http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
We're planning to stay in Sydney the whole time, but will probably rent a motorcycle for some local riding.

Enjoy your stay - there are also lots of nice day trips you can do from Sydney too- up to the Blue Mountains, the Central Coast and Illawarra region.

We're listed on the flights we want and everything seems to be fine.
I was wondering what policies Qantas has for nonrev people, regarding any dress code, and onboard food and drinks... will they likely have enough meals? Can we order alcoholic drinks?

No carrier likes it's non-rev pax to be noted by the other revenue generating pax for any reasons and QF is no different. You will be treated like any other pax - fed and watered etc.
Dress code is not overly strict, but certainly there is an expectation to be dressed appropriately. No cutoff jeans, dirty clothes, thongs/flip flops, singlets etc. Dress code for Y is "neat casual" which usually means collared shirt, casual but "classy" looking comfy pants like chinos etc.
One point to remember and one that throws everyone down here, is on your return, you need to check in at a special nonrev desk and nowhere else. At SYD, look for the QF "RED S" check-in desk. That is where they process all nonrevs for all QF International flights. Won't be hard to find it - just look for the desk that has a heap of people in the immediate area sitting on suitcases and the such !! http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
