I'm new so please forgive me if this is the wrong method of posting a new thread.
I'm hoping to fly United SFO-SYD on or around (Thurs) 6 April, returning about 15-16 days later.
My brother is a UA employee so I am strictly S.A. (space available) and have the lowest priority.
Does anyone have insight on this time of year.
Thanks for any info.

If you don't get any reply after a few days it might be worth reposting your query on the North America board as it will need to be someone working for UA ( and probably US based ) who can check the load factors for you.

Check the articles section on this site as there are some good ones about Australia.
Your brother or one of his co-workers should be able to check flight loads.
I just completed a LAX-SYD nonrev trip on QF with no problems, during busy Mardi Gras season. I'm guessing it would be less busy in April as it's getting cooler there now.
Also, as a UA relative traveling on UA, you'll have low priority but probably not the lowest, as among standbys you'd probably have higher priority than "other airlines (non-UA)" non-rev travelers.
