My wife and I and our two kids are potentially Delta Pass Riders as friends of a Delta employee. I'm interested in going to BKK, but my family would kill me if we got in a situation where we spend a couple nights at the airport waiting for a flight home, or have to pay full fare for tickets home. There's no way to know before you go that you have a way back? Is BKK too complicated? Would I be better off going where Delta flies directly (ie Hawaii or Latin America)? Is the Delta Pass good on other airlines (TG is supposed to be a good backup for flights out of BKK)? Is there some way to find out yield fares w/o having to have a pass number? Too many questions?

Greg,
As a Family and Friends traveller (aka buddy pass) you are only eligible to fly on Delta operated flights. That unfortunately means that BKK is out of the question. Employees and their spouse and children can purchase what the industry calls ID9x tickets on other airlines, but Delta's buddy pass program only allows for travel on delta flights. (Codeshare flights are not eligible) As far as yield fares go, you can only get that on TravelLine or online on DeltaNet (you need the employee for either though).
Hope this helps.
