Hi,
The plan is to go to Thailand from 28APR06 to 08MAY06 and hopefully fly with a ZED ticket. Although I know BKK is not that great for non-reving and would like to know considering that I have Thai Airways/BA to try and that is it low season.
Paul: Can you let me know how the flights usually to BKK around that time are? Do they run 100% LF or are a possibility?
BKK: Any ideas where to stay in town? A decently priced hotel in downtown will be great…
Beaches: I know, I will do some research but I am planning to spend 6 days at the beach with my wife. Any suggestions where to go not too far from BKK?
Many Thanks!
Ig.

Igna,
Simplistically BKK is normally very heavily loaded but there are odd periods when the flights will be quite open over 2 or 3 consecutive days but its difficult to know when these days are.
At the moment the flights look fine but its early days .. also we stop our service to MEL at the end of March ( we've surrendered YET another route to Qantas supposedly in the name of the JSA ) which could affect the loads to BKK ( having to connect there onto QF ).

All--
I've done NRSA to/from BKK many times and never been left behind.. that being said, it can be very hot or cold within the same week.. If I suspect that I'm going to have trouble getting out in the morning (I travel from BKK back to west coast USA, so all my departures are early AM from BKK) I look at these options (in order of my personal preference):
1) Get a SIN-BKK late evening flt the day before and get out of asia via SIN.. lots of discount carriers ply that route so it may be cheaper than an ID and you're a rev. pax., or 2) Explore alternate departure points for my return USA bound trip such as TPE/HKG/ICN/KIX/NGO/PVG/PEK.. All these points have non-stop AM flights out of BKK and can connect with a USA bound departure.

For accom in Bangkok, try the Amari chain of hotels. They've always had good airline rates in the past whenever I've been through there and needed something.
There's usually even very decent prices as specials on most of the bigger groups properties websites in Bangkok for much of the time as well.

Thank you gusy for all the help.
How long would you stay in BKK for? two nights I think is enough?
What about beaches? Where shall I go?
Thanks!
